A lawsuit seeking $80 million in damages against Chainalysis was dismissed by Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Joel Cohen. The plaintiff was a former employee, Blake Ratliff had claimed that the firm breached an alleged oral agreement to modify the terms of his stock options. The Supreme Court dismissed it due to the failure to state a viable claim and the lawsuit being time-barred. Ratliff had argued that the Chainalysis cofounders had assured him verbally that his stock options would be guaranteed and that Chainalysis’ interpretation of the employment agreement was completely flawed and one-sided. Despite his arguments, the dismissal of the $80 million lawsuit reflects the strength of Chainalysis’ position.
