How to prevent condensation and mould on windows with £8 item – no dehumidifier or heating

Condensation can damage your windows and furniture, and it can also cause mould which could be detrimental to your health.

Condensation happens when there’s too much moisture in the air, and it collects as droplets on a cool surface – the collection of these water droplets is what leads to mould growth.

Driven mad by this buildup, one woman took to the Mrs Hinch Army Facebook page to share how she has prevented window condensation and mould.

Lisa Spain wrote: “I was recommended this Unibond 360 Moisture Absorber to deal with window condensation which was driving me mad.

“The blue bit of wall you can see behind kept going black and the windows would be dripping every morning.

“I’ve had this for two weeks now, and oh my gosh, what a difference! Not a single drop of water on the windows, no black mildew or mould, just one container full of blue liquid.

“Anyone having an issue with window condensation, I’d highly recommend these! I’ve got one in every room now.”

The post received over 300 comments from fellow Mrs Hinch fans all raving about this device.

Aimee Bush said: “We had exactly the same problem and bought one of these too. The difference is unreal!”

Callum Dougan commented: “These are amazing! Got two in our bathroom because it’s so bloody big and it works fantastic.”

Louise Andrews wrote: “I’ve got a similar one from Robert Dyas, and yes they they really do work.”

Haley Spence said: “We have these in every room and once full, I empty them into the toilet and makes my toilet smell nice.”

Becky Jones replied: “We’ve got one of these in our conservatory and it’s made such a difference in there. Would really recommend. Not expensive either. They’re like £8 at Tesco.”

The only issue group members had with this device is that it “looks ugly” and that the blue liquid can stain badly if it leaks.

For those who don’t want to spend any money to prevent condensation, it is worth opening windows in the morning for around 10 to 15 minutes.
