Watch An AMG Master Technician Hand-Build A Pagani V12 Engine

Pagani has released a new video that gives us an up-close look at the engine-building process each of its AMG-developed V12s goes through.

Handcrafted at AMG’s headquarters in Affalterbach, Germany, the twin-turbocharged M158 V12 engine powers the Utopia, Huayra R, and the Imola Roadster. Just two technicians are trusted to assemble these twelve-cylinder motors, and one of them is Michael Kubler, one of AMG’s best engine builders.

Initially, Kubler was tasked with building the 65 AMG engines for the S65, SL65, and CL65 models and later graduated to special models and Maybachs. When he was offered the role of chief engine builder at Pagani, he jumped at the opportunity.

As the video below shows, he assembles these mighty powertrains with the utmost care – after all, Pagani customers expect perfection. The term ‘hand-built’ gets thrown around often, but it carries true meaning in Pagani’s creations. Kubler screws the 6.0-liter V12 together with precision, carefully putting the heart of the machine together.
