Best Electric Cargo Vans for 2025 | Top Electric Work Vans

The idea of an electric cargo van is still a relatively new one, as the limited driving range has been a deterrent in commercial applications where these laborers have to travel many miles daily – just think how many Ford Transits you see out around town. However, when you consider that this mileage is cumulative, with a lot of short trips undertaken, it starts to make sense. If an all-electric range could cover these trips, with time to charge factored in between, the long-term benefits of electric cargo vans are undeniable. This is a list of the all-electric cargo vans on sale in the USA for 2025.

Vehicles are assigned a BuzzScore in relation to their direct segment competitors, and as such, vehicles in this list, while similarly scored, do not necessarily compete directly against one another. Find out more about how the BuzzScore ratings work here.

One of the more unrecognizable electric cargo vans on the market is the Mercedes-Benz eSprinter Cargo Van, since the exterior is virtually indistinguishable from the gas-powered Sprinter. We all know the Sprinter is among the best passenger vans, but this electric cargo van is an excellent opportunity for businesses to adopt green power.

This van starts at $61,180 in its least expensive configuration before destination charges and other fees. You can spec the eSprinter with either a 144″ or 170″ wheelbase, and either a standard or high roof. In its largest configuration, the interior can hold up to 488.1 cubic feet of cargo. There are also two available motors on the rear axle, with the more powerful producing 295 lb-ft of torque. The maximum payload capacity reaches 2,624 pounds, but that would inevitably reduce the estimated 206 miles of maximum range.

One electric van in the USA that not many would consider without a larger delivery business is the Chevrolet BrightDrop 600. We’ll talk about the slightly smaller BrightDrop 400 next, but this EV cargo van stands out as comparatively huge when looking at the rest of the options on this list. It has the most power, and the largest interior space of the group, though its range is the same. Surprisingly, the price is only slightly higher, at $80,125. However, Chevrolet has started offering massive discounts on the van, with the Brightdrop 600 now going for as little as $47,925. This EV van can hold up to 614.7 cubic feet of cargo in the back and has a maximum payload capacity of 3,350 pounds. The 2025 model has either front-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive, with the FWD model making 233 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque. As for range, the 600 can drive up to 272 miles when properly equipped.

While the Brightdrop 600 tops the charts with most specs, the Chevy BightDrop 400 comes in a more practical size while still offering superb cargo space, good range, and a slightly cheaper price. This version of Chevy’s electric work van starts at $78,625 excluding incentives, fees, and options. However, it too is subject to massive discounts and can be found at $46,425 from some dealers. Like the Brightdrop 600, there are FWD and AWD options, but the FWD version has up to 300 lb-ft of torque. The interior and capabilities of the Zevo 400 are where it differs, though. This van can hold up to 412.1 cubic feet of cargo and a payload of up to 3,710 pounds, depending on the spec. When properly equipped, it can drive up to 272 miles. The 600 was originally only sold as a fleet vehicle to large corporations, and the 400 follows suit.

A practical and somewhat more affordable electric commercial van is the Ford E-Transit Cargo Van. While companies can order this in a few versions, including two cab-only specs that lack an interior behind the front seats, the reason we’re here today is for the cargo van variant. If you want to buy one with a finished cargo area, you have to spend at least $51,000. That’s the cheapest option on the list, though, so we won’t complain.

The E-Transit comes with a single electric motor that drives the rear wheels with 266 horsepower and 317 lb-ft of torque. It’s available with either a 130-inch or 148-inch wheelbase. At the E-Transit’s maximum, you can fit up to 487.3 cubic feet of cargo inside, and it has a payload of up to 3,330 pounds. Its range isn’t the best at 159 miles.

For another modern electric commercial van, take a look at the Ram ProMaster EV. As more and more large companies are adopting electric vehicles into their fleets, Ram decided to join the ranks by making an electric work van. The most basic version of this van starts at $56,495, but there are multiple options for an extended wheelbase and higher roof that increase in price. The only powertrain is a single electric motor to turn the front wheels at 268 horsepower and 302 lb-ft of torque. The ProMaster EV’s range is where this work van falls short, since it has an estimated range of just 164 miles. The interior, however, more than makes up for that; the ProMaster EV can hold up to 524 cubic feet in the extended wheelbase with a “super high” roof.

“Despite its size and the fact that there was no cargo in my test van, the EV proved easy to drive on sopping wet asphalt. I’d have liked a bit more time to test it out on the highway, but local roads are, under typical situations, where the Ram ProMaster EV will mostly be driven. Though I didn’t have the chance to clock 0-60 launches, the van – when unloaded – is surprisingly quick, thanks to the instant torque provided by its single electric motor.”

FAQs

What are the best electric work vans?

Currently, there are only a few electric vans on the market, though more are on the way. For now, the Ford E-transit is the king of vans, just like its gas-powered counterpart. It can haul up to 3,880 pounds of weight. Chevrolet’s BrightDrop 600 can’t handle as much payload, but there is almost 620 cubic feet for cargo, dwarfing the 487.3 cubes in the E-Transit. It can also manage up to 272 miles on a charge – much better than the E-Transit.

What are the dimensions of the best electric cargo vans?

The Ford E-Transit can measure as much as 263.9 inches long and stands up to 110.4 inches tall. In comparison, the BrightDrop 600 can be as long as 290 inches and as tall as 117.42 inches.

What electric cargo van has the best range?

The Chevy BrightDrop 600 claims it can manage up to 272 miles, which is more than100 miles above that of the E-Transit at this stage. This range will naturally decrease when the van is fully loaded, however.

How much does a new electric commercial van cost?

For now, the Ford E-Transit is the only model we have a price for, ranging from $50,000 to $60,000, depending on the configuration. The upcoming Mercedes E-Sprinter will likely add $5k to $10k to these figures. With the latest discounts announced by Chevrolet on its electric vans, though, both BrightDrop models come in below $50k with the right offers.
