Even The Haters Will Love The Latest Changes To The C8 Corvette

The mid-engine C8 Chevrolet Corvette is one of the greatest performance cars of all time. But despite all that horsepower, excellent balance, styling that out-Lamborghinis Lamborghini, and a price that is an astonishing value, there is one thing about it that everyone seems to hate. A new leak suggests that Chevy is about to fix that.

No, sorry, it’s not the car’s lack of a manual transmission. So, make that the second thing that everyone seems to hate. We’re talking about the massive button divider wall that makes the Corvette’s cabin more like a pair of cubicles joined together than a car that you would want to share a road trip with anyone you cared about.

The C8 was a heavily guarded secret, at least until the reveal date got very close. But that was nearly six years ago, which means it is time for the Corvette to get a refresh. A slightly less-well-guarded secret, as it turns out.

An official parts diagram from GM has leaked via Corvette Forum, and it shows the interior of the refreshed for 2026 C8. At least it shows the driver’s side of the interior.

Chevy’s button buttress is gone with the interior update. In its place, the C8 will have a line of buttons along the bottom of the screen. It’s the look you’ll find in basically every other Chevrolet model, and it should free up a load of space in the cabin. Or at least it should give that feeling.

Along with the banished button banner, the C8 refresh appears to get some new screens. The center infotainment screen appears much larger than the screen in the current car. Unconfirmed reports claim that the dashboard screen will also be slightly larger and get a higher-resolution display.

Chevrolet has nearly 5,700 unsold Corvettes, with discounts on some bringing the price to around $60,000.

Lastly, there appears to be a third screen, this one entirely new. It goes to the left of the driver, and it’s not clear what it could do.

We can’t quite see enough in the single leaked image to show if the center console has been redesigned. It could simply lose the Great Wall of Buttons, keeping the cupholder and transmission buttons, or Chevy could redesign that entire section. The latter feels likely.

Update Should Have Arrived More Than A Year Ago

Chevy had delayed this refresh already. It was initially reported to be coming for model year 2025, then 2026. The 2025 refresh was said to be delayed as a result of supply chain issues and other engineering supply problems related to COVID-19.

We understand that the ZR1 Corvette will not get the new interior. It has already been revealed with the old bits, and it would be very odd for GM to either change it this quickly after the reveal or even for the second year of production.

As for when the refresh might show up, we’re not exactly certain on that either. The C8 made its first official appearance at an event in July 2019, and Chevrolet could be looking to repeat that. A motorsports event like the Petit Le Mans in October is also possible, and would take advantage of the Corvette’s racing heritage.
