IIFT gets approval to set up off-campus centre at GIFT City
The Union Ministry of Education has approved the establishment of an off-campus centre of the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), New Delhi at GIFT City in Gujarat . The centre will be established as per the UGC (Institutions Deemed to be Universities) Regulations, 2023 and will pave the way for training talents in the field of international business, as well as the institution’s flagship programme MBA (International Business).
The approval has been granted under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, after IIFT successfully complied with the conditions set out in the Letter of Intent (LoI) issued in January 2025. This includes submitting a development roadmap for setting up a multidisciplinary institution with over 1,000 students, availability of qualified faculty, detailed academic programmes, planning for a permanent campus and construction of a state-of-the-art library, stated an official release.
The upcoming GIFT City complex will be located on the 16th and 17th floors of GIFT Tower 2 located in the domestic tariff area of the GIFT campus. It will offer IIFT’s flagship MBA (International Business) programme as well as specialised short-term training courses and research in international business and related fields. This initiative is in line with the goals of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which aims to promote multidisciplinary education and expand access to high-quality education, the release added.
