The Ineos Grenadier is one of the most capable and durable off-roaders money can buy. However, armoring specialists Inkas have found a way to make the SUV even tougher, by creating the world’s first armored Grenadier. It was only a matter of time before someone applied the bulletproof treatment to the Ineos as body-on-frame vehicles are well-suited to armoring.

Kitted out with the Inkas BR6 protection package, the Grenadier is capable of withstanding an attack from a hand grenade or 7.62x51mm rifle ammunition. This should make you feel safer at night, allowing you to drive through the rougher parts of town without fear of being carjacked. Protection is provided by a combination of ballistic steel and bullet-resistant glass.

Protection From Grenades And Bullets

Inkas says the package consists of 360-degree perimeter protection, with an armored passenger cabin, floor, and roof. The military-grade ballistic glass protects from the aforementioned weapons, without hindering the driver’s view of the road. What’s more, the glass is very similar to the OEM glass, creating a factory look and creating the impression of a non-armored car.

To prevent bullets from penetrating the door seams, Inkas equips the Grenadier (and its other armored SUVs) with a ballistic door overlap system that incorporates a bulletproof edge around the windows and door seams. A similar system is applied to the cargo area. An armored bulkhead protects passengers from ammunition and blasts, retaining the vehicle’s practical trunk. Naturally, the fuel tank is protected while the tires receive military-grade run-flat technology.

Plenty Of Accessories To Choose From

Optionally, customers can specify an array of goodies, aimed at protecting the occupants and ensuring the car can escape in difficult conditions. This includes engine bay armoring, exhaust pipe protection, an engine bay fire suppression system, a roof escape hatch, CCTV, a PA system with an intercom, an oxygen filtration system, a door mechanism assist, and more.

Interestingly, Inkas does not mention how much weight the protection package adds to the Grenadier, but we’re guessing it adds a fair bit of pounds to the off-roader. No performance upgrades have been made, but that’s not a big deal, as the Grenadier is powered by a BMW-sourced 3.0-liter engine that develops 282 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque.
