The Hottest Car Debuts And Displays Revealed
Now that car shows are all but dead, it has fallen on festivals like the Goodwood Festival of Speed and Monterey Car Week to showcase the best the automotive industry has to offer. CarBuzz will be on the ground at both events, and the first one up is Goodwood. Our schedule is packed tight with interviews and staring at the gated shifter of the Pagani Utopia, but before we get there, we thought we’d get the excitement rolling and look at 10 of the most highly-anticipated dynamic debuts, static displays, and celebrations the festival has in store this year.

The Festival Is Dedicated To Gordon Murray
Celebrating 60 Years Of Awesome
Each year the Festival Of Speed (FOS) has a central feature. It’s basically just a way to highlight a particular brand. Last year, it was MG which celebrated its 100th anniversary, but in previous years the festival also celebrated BMW M, Alfa Romeo, Audi, Mercedes, and 50 Years of the Porsche 911.
This year is unique because it celebrates both a person and a brand. Gordon Murray needs no introduction, as he has been in the game for 60 years, designing everything from his own race car in his parents’ yard, to the latest supercars for Gordon Murray Automotive. The latter company will also be celebrated for being one of the few automakers to still offer a naturally aspirated V12 supercar with a manual gearbox. GMA has two new cars on the way, but we’ll have to wait until Monterey Car Week to see them.

F1’s 75th Anniversary
Diverse Drivers And Cars
The FOS takes place less than a week after the British Grand Prix, which is this weekend. Every single team on the grid has confirmed that they’ll be attending the festival, but that’s not all. Since the history of F1 spans back to 1950, there will be displays including those very first cigar cars, the mad innovations throughout the years, the zany turbocharged cars that still had manual gearboxes, right up to the current hybrid era.
Loads of legendary drivers have confirmed their attendance, including Alain Prost, Mario Andretti, Nigel Mansell, and Mark Webber. America’s sort-of F1 team will also make its FOS debut this year. Both Haas drivers, Ollie Bearman and Esteban Ocon, will be going up the hill in a selection of Haas racing cars.

Hyundai Ioniq 6 N
Making Its Long-Awaited Debut
The Tesla Model 3 is quaking in its boots. Hyundai is set to introduce its new all-electric member of the high-performance N family, the Ioniq 6 N, at Goodwood this weekend. The Ioniq 6 N is all about driving experience, with heaps of features aimed at providing maximum engagement and fun.

These include the “N e-shift” simulated gear shift, Drift Optimizer, and Active Sound+ to enhance the auditory component of the experience (including an option that simulates the sound of a gas engine). Although official performance figures are not out yet, the Ioniq 5 N gets to 60 mph in 3.3 seconds, so we can imagine the 6 N won’t be too far off.

Lanzante 95-59
A Unique Tribute To An Iconic Brand
As a company, Lanzante is kind of an automotive chameleon, having dabbled in projects of all kinds over the years. Its latest creation is set to make its debut at Goodwood: the Project 95-59, a curiously-named homage to McLaren. Although all we have seen of the Project 95-59 at this stage is a clay model, it looks like the car is set to take some cues from various McLaren models.

It will be revealed this summer.
Lanzante has a long history with McLaren, particularly in the world of motorsport, so the connection is not entirely a surprise. We know that the Project 95-59 will be based on a McLaren platform, and that it will have a seating layout similar to that of the F1, with three seats and the driver located in the middle.

We already know what the Aston Martin Valhalla looks like, and its performance specs are already public knowledge. This weekend, however, we will get to see its performance in full glory, as Valhalla makes what’s known as its “dynamic debut”. This is the first time an automaker showcases a particular model on the track, usually at a high-profile event such as Goodwood.
With the Valhalla producing four-figure horsepower through its hybrid powertrain, and getting from 0 to 60 in just two and a half seconds, we are sure that seeing it unleashed on the track will be an incredible sight indeed.

Ferrari is set to have a big weekend, with not one but two recent additions to the family making their first Goodwood appearance. One is the F80, a new hybrid hypercar introduced at the end of last year. The F80 produces an eye-watering combined power output of 1,184 hp, and gets from 0 to 60 in a mere 2.15 seconds, placing it well and truly into the hypercar stratosphere.
Another is the Amalfi, the successor to the Roma, which only made its debut at the beginning of this month. The Amalfi, named after a stretch of Italian coastline renowned for its beauty, has similar dimensions and style to its predecessor, but brings about a slight improvement in performance terms.

When it comes to creating fun, quirky track toys, the Ariel Motor Company never disappoints. The latest incarnation of the Atom is called the 4RR, and was built to celebrate the iconic model’s 25th anniversary. Although it is powered by a Honda four-cylinder, when it comes to power output the 4RR is a full 50 horsepower above the legendary Atom V8, producing 525 hp.
Even more impressive is the fact that, in the Atom 4RR, the engine produces 210 hp more than in the Honda Civic Type R, the model it was originally sourced from. True to its guiding principle of driving fun with a sprinkle of insanity, it looks like Ariel has well and truly delivered once again.

BMW models with “CS” in their name have always represented the pinnacle of performance, and the new M2 CS is no exception. The car has been lightened substantially, shaving 66 pounds off the weight of the standard M2. Power output, meanwhile, has been bumped up to 523 hp.
The result is an increase in performance on both the acceleration and top speed fronts: the M2 CS will hit 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds (two tenths faster than the standard M2) and reach a top speed of 188 mph (11 mph faster). Although the M2 CS has already been introduced to the world, Goodwood is going to be the scene of its dynamic debut, where we will be able to see all this performance in real life.

Next up is another dynamic debut for a car that has been around since last year. The new Honda Prelude, which made one of its early appearances at last year’s edition of the Festival of Speed, is now set to show off its capabilities on the track.
The Prelude’s name is, however, the only vintage thing about it: the car’s sleek design is modern and futuristic, with smooth lines that echo models like the Toyota GR86. And if you’re a US-based car enthusiast, you have plenty of reasons to celebrate: the company has confirmed the new Prelude will be coming over to the States.

We conclude the list with yet another dynamic debut. This automaker might not be known even to dedicated car enthusiasts: Praga, a Czech company with a history that dates back to 1907. Praga’s latest sports car is the limited-production Bohema: this model was introduced back in 2022, and the company is now ready to start delivering the first Bohemas to their owners.
The Bohema is going to have a chance to demonstrate its performance at Goodwood. Producing a power output of 690 hp, and weighing just 1,000 kg (or 2,205 lb, around 400 pounds more than the first-generation Lotus Elise), the Bohema is sure to pack a punch.
