This Is The Only Million-Dollar Porsche 911 S/T In America

Only 1,963 examples of the Porsche 911 S/T have ever been made, meant to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the iconic 911 nameplate, which was first shown in 1963. Among them, only one had not been assigned to a customer in the US, but that has changed recently as RM Sotheby’s announced that the hammer fell on this car for $1 million, making it the only million-dollar 911 S/T in America.

Even better, all the proceeds of the sale will go to the American Red Cross, with RM Sotheby’s waiving its usual fees to maximize the amount that reaches charity. Each year, the Red Cross responds to over 65,000 disasters across the US. It was recently active in California amid the Los Angeles wildfires, providing more than 14,500 overnight shelter stays, serving 128,000 meals, and distributing over 102,000 relief supplies to support those impacted by the disaster.

Number 1,919 Of 1,963

The auctioned 911 S/T is finished in Shore Blue Metallic, the paint color unlocked when the Heritage Design Package is added, among other expensive options. The 911 S/T isn’t cheap; outside the auction, the limited-run sports car would have cost $366,000, a lot more than the $290,000 base price. The tripled price tag, of course, comes with the opportunity to own the last unclaimed build slot of the rare 911 S/T – number 1,919 of its production cap – and to help the American Red Cross.

Of course, what makes the Porsche 911 S/T even more unique is its blend of various 911 components. It features the 4.0-liter naturally aspirated flat-six from the 911 GT3 RS, delivering 518 horsepower and 342 lb-ft of torque. Paired with a six-speed manual transmission from the standard GT3, it boasts shorter gear ratios, a lightweight clutch, and a single-mass flywheel. It’s also the lightest of all the 992-generation 911s, weighing only 3,056 lbs.

The Same Winning Bidder Of The Sally Special

According to Porsche, a lot of people contributed to the success of the auction, including Orlando Bloom, who helped raise awareness of the sale. While the German marque refused to name the winning bidder, it mentioned that it was the same person who bought the Porsche Sally Special 911 Carrera GTS for a whopping $3.6 million – all of which also helped a good cause.
