  • Toyota announces MY2025 updates and pricing for the Toyota Sequoia.

  • Massaging seats are now available on the full-size SUV.
  • TRD Pro gains a new color for MY2025.

Toyota has announced 2025 model year updates for the Sequoia. Completely redesigned for MY2023, the three-row SUV gains the 1794 Edition trim, a special paint color for the TRD trim, and more luxury for the front-row occupants. Already offered on the Tundra pickup truck, the 1794 grade gives customers more choice when specifying their Sequoia. These improvements come at a cost, though, with the 2025 Sequoia receiving a price hike. It would appear Toyota has discontinued the 4×2 variants of the Platinum and Capstone trims. CarBuzz has contacted Toyota USA for comment and will update the article once we receive a reply.

Inspired by the state of Texas – where the Sequoia is manufactured – the SUV is littered with touches from the Lone Star state. The Sequoia and Tundra are assembled on land that was once a ranch established near San Antonio in 1794. Toyota’s largest offerings pay tribute to their esteemed past with American walnut wood grain trim, 1794 badging, 20-inch wheels, a panoramic sunroof, second-row captain’s chairs, a towing package, and unique leather-trimmed seats. Speaking of the pews, the front occupants enjoy heating, ventilation, and massage functionality.

New Massaging Seats, And The TRD Pro Gets A Fresh Paint Color

The massaging seats are also new for 2025. Standard on the 1794, Platinum, and Capstone terms, customers can optionally equip this luxury feature on other grades. The integrated function offers varying intensities, with upper and lower body massage options. The controls can be found within the 14-inch multimedia touchscreen, and enhance the leather-trimmed 10-way power-adjustable seats.

The TRD Pro trim is now available in a new color for MY2025. The Mudbath hue is exclusive to the more rugged trim and was already previewed on the new 4Runner and the Tundra TRD Pro. The towing package – known as the Tow Tech package – is now available with an innovative wireless trailer camera system, which promises easier towing thanks to superior visibility. The rechargeable camera is attached to the rear of the trailer and streams a live view to the digital rearview mirror.

Powerful Twin-Turbo V6 Under The Hood

Aside from that, the Sequoia soldiers on unchanged. We didn’t expect any styling changes because, as mentioned, the full-size SUV has only been on sale for two years. Under the hood, a twin-turbo V6 hybrid engine produces 437 horsepower and 583 lb-ft of torque. The i-Force Max motor is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. SR5 and Limited trims are available with 2WD or part-time four-wheel drive, while the 1794, Platinum, TRD Pro, and Capstone grades receive part-time 4WD as standard.

While the new trim and various improvements will be welcomed by the Toyota faithful, we can’t imagine many customers will be enthused by the hefty price increases. It’s worth noting that the range-topping Capstone 4×4 now costs slightly more than a base BMW X7 ($83,500), an entry-level Lincoln Navigator ($83,265), and the 2024 Cadillac Escalade ($81,895). Whether customers will be able to resist temptation from these premium brands remains to be seen.
